B.V.R. Chowdari
Research Interests:
Prof. B.V.R. Chowdari’s research focus is on the synthesis and characterization of functional inorganic and hybrid materials for energy storage applications. His early research was on solid state ionic materials as solid electrolytes in Lithium-Ion Batteries. Subsequently, he worked on electrode and electrolyte materials for Lithium-Ion Batteries.
He has published ~425 papers in international journals. His citation- and h- index are 26,150 and 86, respectively. He is named as one of the “2018 Highly Cited Researchers” by Clarivate Analytics.

Academic Service:
Prof. Chowdari served as the Executive Director, NUS-India Research Initiative, and Senior Executive Director, India Strategy (International Engagement), NTU Singapore, for connecting NUS and NTU with the Indian Institutes of Higher Learning. This has resulted in hundreds of students and academics from India contributing for the research strength of these universities.
He has coordinated the organization of Singapore-India Hackathon which was graced by the Prime Minister of India contributing for strengthening the academic and political connections between Singapore and India.
As the President of the Materials Research Society of Singapore and the Asian Society for Solid State Ionics, he initiated the organization of the International Conference on Materials for Advanced Technologies (ICMAT) series which is going to its 12th edition and the biennial Asian Conference on Solid State Ionics (ACSSI) which is going to its 18th edition. These conferences have brought scientists from Asia and the world at-large together resulting in scientific collaborations and cultural and political understandings.
Currently, he is the Senior Executive Director (Strategic India and Initiatives (SII)), Office of the Provost, NUS, with the mission of developing strategy for educational interactions and building strategic initiatives with Indian institutions and facilitate NUS Faculties/School’s efforts in SII.
Prof. Chowdari currently holds several multifaceted responsibilities. They include Senior Executive Director and President Emeritus of the Materials Research Society of Singapore; Senior Executive Director (Strategic India and Initiatives), National University of Singapore; Director of the Head Office of the International Union of Materials Research Societies (IUMRS); and Adjunct Professor of the Materials Science and Engineering at the Nanyang Technological University and the National University of Singapore.
