The 16th Asian Conference on Solid State Ionics is held in Shanghai
The 16th Asian Conference on Solid State Ionics (ASSSI-16) is held in Tongji University, Shanghai during August 5-8, 2018. The 18th National Conference on Solid State Ionics of China and the 5th Asian Conference on Solid Oxide Fuel cells are held at the same period. The conferences are hosted by the Asian Society for Solid State Ionics and the Solid State Ionics Branch of the Chinese Society for Ceramics. The conferences are co-organized by the Shanghai Institute Ceramics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (SICCAS), Tongji University and Tsinghua University. Professors Zhaoyin Wen, Yunhui Huang and Minfang Han serve as the co-chairman of the conferences. More than 1000 participants from universities, research institutes and industries of Asian Countries China, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Indonesia, and from the United States, Germany, Norway and Russia take part in the conferences.
The opening ceremony is held at the auditorium of Tongji University and chaired by Prof. Yunhui Huang on Aug. 6. Both Xianglin Gu, the Vice President of Tongji University and Lixing Song, the Director of SICCAS, delivered warm welcome to all participants. Zhanping Jin, Vice Chairman of the Chinese Society for Ceramics, Han-iII Yoo, President of International Society for Solid State Ionics, B.V.R. Chowdari, Honorary President of the Asian Society for Sold State Ionics, Minfang Han, Chairman of the Executive Committee of Asian Society for Solid Oxide Fuel cells, Zhaoyin Wen, President of the Asian Society for Solid State Ionics and Chairman of the Solid State Ionics Branch of the Chinese Society for Ceramics gave speech at the opening ceremony.
The plenary lectures are presented by Professors Arumugam Manthiram of University of Texas at Austin, USA, Han-Ill Yoo of Seoul National University of South Korea, Ryoji Kanno of Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan, Yong Yang of Xiamen University, China, Scott A. Barnett of the Northwestern University, USA, Feiyu Kang from Tsinghua University, China, Truls Norby of the University of Oslo, Norway, Xongwen Lou of Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, Cewen Nan of Tsinghua University, China, Teruhisa Horita of Japan Institute of Advanced Materials Science and Technology, Jong-Ho Lee of the Korean Institute of Advanced Science and Technology, Feng Pan of Peking University, China, Hong Li of the Institute of Physics, CAS, Hitoshi Takamura of the Northwestern University, Japan. The scope of the conference covers fundamental theory of Solid State Ionics, energy storage materials and devices, electrochemical sensors, energy transfer materials and devices, solid oxide fuel cells. 7 sub-venues are set up with 57 keynote lectures, 84 invited lectures and 116 oral talks are contributed. In addition, 270 posters are shown and communicated.
11 oral presentations and 23 posters are selected as excellent contributions and commended at the closing ceremony held on Aug. 9. Honorary Certificates of “Excellent Organizer “are awarded to Tongji University, Shanghai Institute Ceramics, CAS and Tsinghua University.
The conference fully demonstrates the latest progress and achievements of Asian Countries in basic research and applied research in the field of Solid State Ionics. It also provides a great opportunity to exchange views on the frontiers and prospects of Solid State Ionics.
The 17th Asian Conference on Solid State Ionics, the 6th Asian Conference on Solid Oxide Fuel Cells and the 19th National Conference on Solid State Ionics are decided to be held in 2020 in Nagoya, Japan, Korea and Guiyang City, China respectively.
